We are here to lead, listen, and help build a stronger Santa Maria through vision, experience, and community pride
Investing in infrastructure and new ideas is a vital way to build our community, bringing people together with vision and purpose in times of change.
Michael Clayton has always believed in giving back to the Santa Maria community. In 2023, he took that commitment further by being elected to the Santa Maria Airport Board, where he continues to serve today. For Michael, joining the board was not just about stepping into public service, but about finding new ways to help Santa Maria grow, create jobs, and expand opportunities for everyone.
Since joining the board, Michael has focused on revitalizing the airport, which he sees as a vital part of the city’s future. He believes that in order to bring in quality airlines and increase flight options, the airport itself must reflect quality and ambition. Michael has consistently pushed for improvements to infrastructure, from updating aging hangars and facilities to enhancing the overall appearance and safety of the grounds.
Michael knows that the airport is more than just a place for planes to land and take off. It is also an economic engine that can help create new jobs, strengthen local businesses, and connect the community to the rest of the country and beyond. He envisions a day when Santa Maria will have an airport that offers flights across the nation and even internationally, helping residents travel with ease while attracting new visitors and business opportunities to the region.
Michael continues to encourage residents and business owners to attend airport board meetings, share their ideas, and stay involved. He believes that when the community has a voice and works together, real progress is possible. With a focus on transparency, communication, and long-term planning, Michael Clayton remains dedicated to building a stronger, more vibrant future for the Santa Maria Airport and the community it serves.
