Chad “C.J.” Huck brings a distinctive background in military service, courtroom advocacy, and community involvement to Michael B. Clayton & Associates. Raised in the ranching community of Coldwater, Kansas, Mr. Huck served in the United States Navy for 14 years and completed three combat deployments to Iraq. During his military service, he earned an associate degree from Coastline Community College and a bachelor’s degree in Administrative Leadership from the University of Oklahoma. After retiring from the Navy, he worked as a government contractor in Port Hueneme before earning his Juris Doctor from the Colleges of Law in Santa Barbara. He has also completed intensive trial advocacy training through the National Criminal Defense College Trial Practice Institute.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Huck gained valuable legal experience with the North County Public Defender’s Office, where his work included Veterans Treatment Court, Mental Health Treatment Court, and misdemeanor matters. He was admitted to the California Bar in May 2025 and practices in the areas of criminal and family law. As a Navy veteran, he brings discipline, determination, and a personal understanding of the challenges facing veterans and individuals struggling with mental health issues. His commitment to service also extends beyond the courtroom through his involvement with nonprofit organizations supporting veterans and their families.
